INTRODUCING WOLWEDANS PREMIER CAMPS: A COLLECTION OF DREAM DESTINATIONS FOCUSED ON SUSTAINABILITY AND COMMITTED TO CONSERVATION, WITH EACH CAMP DESIGNED TO MINIMISE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT THROUGH INNOVATIVE BUILDING TECHNIQUES.

Situated south of Sossusvlei, Wolwedans is nestled amongst red dunes in an idyllic valley in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. The 220 000-hectare private reserve is a remarkable desert wilderness where isolation feeds the soul.

The timeless and elegant safari lodge and camps offer private, exclusive and immersive desert experiences, elevated by warm hospitality and personalised service.

The Dunes Lodge, perched atop a dune plateau, benefits from panoramic vistas in all directions. Here the ambience of a tented camp meets the comforts and protection of a permanent building and sleeping with your canvas blinds open is just like sleeping under the stars. Each of the nine, spacious en-suite chalets has a private verandah while the main complex has two lounges, a swimming pool suspended above the sand, sundowner decks, a fireplace, tea deck, library, the wine cellar and two dining rooms.

The Mountain View Suite, with 200 square metres of deck rising above the dunes, provides ample luxury living space. It is within walking distance from the Dunes Lodge, yet secluded. Think plain elegance, embraced by a natural, comfortable charm, featuring a spacious en-suite bedroom with private dune valley views, a shaded patio for dining and lazing in a hammock, a spacious lounge, bar cabinet, dining area, open-plan kitchenette, east-facing verandah and sundeck leading into the surrounding dunes and a main verandah with a stargazing bed.

The stylish, yet down-to-earth Dune Camp has unparalleled natural charm that appeals to young and more adventurous travellers. It sleeps a maximum of 16 guests on the edge of a 250-metre high dune; a pristine setting with a tranquil, intimate atmosphere. Comfortable and spacious, en-suite tents are pitched on wooden platforms and a generous deck allows for safe sleep-outs under the stars. The main tent has a lounge, dining area and an open-plan kitchen.

As the most remote and ‘classic’ camp of the collection, Boulders Safari Camp offers an edge-of-the-world experience. The property, hugged by massive granite rocks, sleeps ten guests. The main area comprises a dining and lounge tent, breakfast deck, library, pool and open fireplace. During the day, guests can explore the reserve via guided scenic drives, walking safaris and eBiking. In the afternoon, sundowners can be enjoyed from the top of a mountainous rock plateau nearby.

The exclusive-use Wolwedans Private Camp is an opulent desert sanctuary set in a quiet, idyllic valley overlooking a prolific waterhole. Complete with a private chef and private guide, the camp offers solitude to individuals and privacy to honeymooners. It is a place where you can soak up uninterrupted views of the surrounding nature and relish the peace that utter silence affords. The camp consists of three spacious en-suite rooms, a ‘Sala’ where one can laze away siestas, several decks, a swimming pool and a central lounge, combining a study, living room, a dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen. When not reading, reflecting or losing yourself in the ever-changing colours of the desert landscapes, one can enjoy nature walks, eBiking, scenic drives or flights, hot air ballooning, horse riding, massages and sleep-outs.

In June 2018, Wolwedans was awarded the coveted Five Flower Eco Award (Namibia), earning five flowers for all of the assessed sites. Plus, it is the first-ever recipient of the Green Flowers Environmental Award (also in 2018), issued by the Eco Awards of Namibia – a mark of distinction for eco-friendly establishments.
