SEYCHELLES

THE SEYCHELLES IS A SEDUCTIVE, SECLUDED ISLAND NATION IN THE INDIAN OCEAN WITH A RICH CREOLE CULTURE. HERE EMERALD WATERS AND MARINE RESERVES SUCH AS BAIE TERNAY MARINE NATIONAL PARK TEEM WITH TROPICAL FISH AND TURTLES. ABOVE WATER, PRISTINE BEACHES, LUSH VEGETATION, WORLD-CLASS RESORTS AND A FUSION OF AFRICAN, EUROPEAN AND ASIAN CUISINE AWAIT. ALTHOUGH MANY OF THE 115 ISLANDS IN THIS ARCHIPELAGO ARE UNINHABITED OR DEDICATED NATURE RESERVES, VISITING MORE THAN ONE ISLAND IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Mahe is the main island and gateway to the Seychelles. It has both a vibrant and a tranquil side with its wide variety of accommodation and restaurants, exciting adventure activities, stunning coastline, lush greenery and granite formations. Hiking in the mountainous Seychellois National Park is a must-do if visiting the island. Praslin may be the second largest island, but the atmosphere is somewhat more laid-back. Secluded coves and breathtaking beaches such as Anse Lazio are main attractions along with the Vallée de Mai, a World Heritage Site boasting enormous palm trees and rare black parrots in its ancient, well-preserved forests.

At the island of La Digue, time stands still. It is the epitome of peacefulness promising perfect pictures, especially at Anse Source d’Argent, a famously beautiful beach. Here one can explore the traditional way of life by bicycle and deeply appreciate the warmth and hospitality. In addition, one of the rarest birds on the planet, the black paradise flycatcher, as well as rare terrapins, bitterns and waxbills reside in this biodiverse haven.

If escaping to a paradisal private island is your desire, look no further than the awarded Seychelles. Denis Private Island, North Island and Frégate Island have all recently featured on Conde Nast Traveller’s list of The World’s 22 Most Incredible Private Islands. It does not really get more remote, romantic and luxurious than this selection.

When not revelling in the splendour of gorgeous beaches, beachfront bars, colourful cocktails and dreamy sunsets, relish reef scuba diving and snorkelling, boat cruises and exceptional deep sea fishing. Combining a migration safari in Kenya or a Big Five safari in South Africa with the Seychelles is a marvellous idea too.
