THIS LUXURY ECO-CAMP IS LOCATED WITHIN A PRIVATE 30 000-ACRE CONSERVANCY BORDERING THE AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK. TRAVERSE INSIDE THE PRIVATE CONSERVANCY AND INSIDE AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK, WHICH HAS OVER 1500 OF AFRICA’S LARGEST ELEPHANTS AND UNRIVALLED VIEWS OF THE SNOW-CAPPED MT. KILIMANJARO, AFRICA’S HIGHEST MOUNTAIN.

Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree that surrounds the camp, the Acacia Tortilis. The spacious tents are all elegant and are built with natural materials; and there are exclusive family accommodations in the 2-Bedroom Family Tent and the 2-Bedroom Private House with a shared swimming pool. Because of Tortilis Camp’s unique location on the western edge of the park and only 10% of Amboseli National Park utilized by most safari vehicles, you can enjoy an almost private Amboseli. The guides, more than half of which are Maasai, are based at camp in Amboseli and intimately know their terrain, the individual elephants and their histories. Besides the thrilling game drives, the walking safaris will provide an appreciation of the small things such as, tracks, dung beetles and intricate micro-ecosystems. For cultural excursions, Tortilis Camp arranges visits to local Maasai homesteads. The families will show you round their home and display their beautiful beadwork and bright red coloured “shukkas” (blankets worn as clothes). The Maasai co-exist with wildlife and are traditionally pastoral, living off their cattle and goats. This lifestyle is their livelihood and thanks to this way of life, vast tracts of wilderness and wildlife have been preserved.
