Aptly named, the lodge enjoys a unique location in a forest-fringed bay. Pristine sandy beaches here in south-east Madagascar are graced by warm waters. Guests have the opportunity to snorkel and relish superb sightings of humpback whales; explore mangroves and the amazing wild coastline by boat or canoe; and go on forest night walks in search of five lemur species that are active at night. Birds, frogs and reptiles may also be sighted, making this a rewarding excursion. There are also cultural tours to local fishing villages to consider, perhaps followed by pampering in the open-air massage pavilion.

True to its ecological principles, the rustic bungalows feature local wood and ravinala thatch and the lodge runs entirely on solar power. The four Luxury Bungalows and one Family Villa all lead directly onto the pristine beach. Incredible bay views can be soaked up from within thanks to 270-degree windows or from a hammock on private wooden terraces. Dining is delightful every day with enticing continental breakfasts, lunches accompanied by freshly-baked bread and full-service three-course dinners in the evenings. Guests can choose between the open-sided Ravinala-thatched bar/dining area and outside seating.

As part of the Madagascar Collection, Manafiafy Beach & Rainforest Lodge contributes to various community projects that support local people and the environment.
