CHIEF’S CAMP
Okavango Delta – Botswana
Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is a safari-chic experience located on Chief’s Island in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, known as Botswana’s predator paradise with large herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo. Everything overlooks the Piajio floodplains and being unfenced, animals wander through freely. Dedicated to conservation, it is proud of its strong environmental credentials, which include an environmentally friendly spa and a solar farm.
One of the top safari camps, it offers some of the largest sophisticated suites in Botswana. The cream leather sofas and armchairs, cane lamps and wooden carvings give the main area an air of relaxed elegance. Designed for ultimate privacy and luxurious comfort, the secluded bush pavilions each feature a spacious seating area with both indoor and outdoor showers, as well as huge wooden terrace with plunge pool, a cool circular day bed and loungers for chilling and watching the wildlife.
A beautiful swimming pool is available and a range of spa treatments are offered by the lodge’s beauty therapist in a soothing poolside treatment. Adventures consist of daily excursions in open-sided 4×4 vehicles and private canoe trips along the narrow Delta channels during the flood season. A unique feature at this lodge is a camp’s orientation room where, before starting a safari, guests receive insights about the delta from specialists in various fields. Expert guides are always available to share knowledge to enrich the wildlife viewing and flora experience. Both white & black rhino were introduced in 2001 and 2003 and as a unique experience, guests can join Chief’s rhino monitors on patrol, learning about the conservation of rhinos relocated here from South Africa.
