APART FROM ITS SPECIAL PRIMATE POPULATION THAT INCLUDES CRITICALLY ENDANGERED MOUNTAIN GORILLAS, RWANDA BOASTS ONE OF THE OLDEST FORESTS IN AFRICA. TO OFFICIALLY PROTECT THE AREA, IT WAS DECLARED A NATIONAL PARK. NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK IS THE NAME OF THIS PRISTINE WILDERNESS IN SOUTHWESTERN RWANDA, THE LARGEST AFRO-MONTANE FOREST IN EAST AND CENTRAL AFRICA.

A variety of activities and experiences are on offer to immerse oneself in the magnificently diverse territory bursting with wildlife including birds and butterflies. You can soak up the sights and sounds of this lush rainforest by hiking, biking, tracking, birding or taking a memorable canopy walk across a 90-metre bridge. Creatures you may come across include 75 different species of mammal, 300 bird species and 13 primate species. Habituated chimpanzees and Ruwenzori black-and-white colobus are two of them. Hiking to Kamiranzovu waterfall is an option for courageous and patient explorers.
