ZIMBABWE’S RIVIERA, FED BY THE ZAMBEZI RIVER, IS A MASSIVE BLUE INLAND SEA STUDDED WITH ISLANDS. ITS REAL NAME: LAKE KARIBA. THOUGH, TECHNICALLY, IT IS A DAM, BUILT IN 1960.

Before filling it, the vegetation was burned. The future lake bed was left with a substantial layer of fertile soil that contributed to the now vibrant ecology. With a shoreline of over 2 000 kilometres, the sheer size of the lake stretching along the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe is remarkable. Popular activities include game viewing, bird watching, fishing and admiring the stunning sunsets.
