RUCKOMECHI IS A TRULY BEAUTIFUL AND REMOTE PLACE SITUATED ON A PRIVATE CONCESSION IN THE HEART OF THE MANA POOLS NATIONAL PARK—A WORLD HERITAGE SITE. THE PARK IS SITUATED ALONG THE ZAMBEZI RIVER AND TAKES ITS NAME FROM THE SHONA WORD FOR FOUR, REFERRING TO THE FOUR LARGE POOLS FORMED BY THE RIVER; A MAGNIFICENT BACKDROP TO AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND VIBRANT PARK.

It boasts spectacular views of the broad flowing river, the adjacent woodland and the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment. The spacious and beautifully decorated en-suite tents are canopied by the ana trees that attract the local elephant with their nutritious seeds. The camp delights discerning travellers with a number of inviting features: a firepit for pleasant evenings beneath the African night skies; a pool overlooking the river; an outdoor “bath with a view” in a secluded, scenic spot; and a magnificent “Star Bed” for a sleep out by a busy waterhole. Adventures abound: Go on a magical sunrise or sunset river cruise in search of hippos, crocodiles, swimming elephants and colourful birdlife; hop in a canoe for closer encounters with hippos and others on the mighty river; or brave a walking safari to follow in the footsteps of giants.
