Fish River Lodge, set in a grove of ancient Quiver trees in the private Canyon Nature Park, is the only lodge perched on the rim of the Fish River Canyon, the world’s second largest canyon. The dry-packed stone walls blend in with this rugged ancient landscape and the colour schemes reflect the subtle hues of the canyon.

Designed with deference to the spectacular view, the lodge overlooks the canyon which holds 300 million years of geological history, Karoo succulent flora and endemic wildlife; including rare mountain zebra, kudu, oryx, elusive klipspringer and fish eagles enjoying the thermal updrafts. Each chalet ensures privacy and tranquility and boasts large windows allowing for total immersion into this intriguing terrain. Its roof top windows bring in the night sky for star-gazing and an outdoor ‘bed’ is available to sleep under the stars.

There are plenty of amazing activities including, Canyon day drive stopping at permanent water holes and rock pools, scenic drive and sundowner, Canyon rim walk to experience first-hand the geological forces that created such a natural wonder, an incredible hike that meanders down into the heart of the canyon, a visit to ancient pictoglyph sites and a fat bike cycling trail.
